During the years we operated Amazing Space in Wells, we designed and printed many shirts with original designs, many of them featuring Cariboo, Wells and Barkerville motifs. We no longer carry an inventory of shirts, but may at some point reprint certain designs.
Wells has some remarkable ski history. The heyday of its hard rock gold mining years coinciding with rapid innovations in ski binding technology, plus enough miners of Scandinavian heritage and of course, plenty of snow, resulted in numerous ski runs and a jump on Cow Mountain.
A number of years ago, Robin Grady kindly loaned us an original felt badge that he and other members of the Wells Ski Club used to wear. Using this design, another variation we found, plus the club’s business cards and some photos, I rendered a facsimile version that I could screen print on shirts. Here’s the evolution of the design:
Designed and printed in summer 2018: “Wells Forget-me-not“. The Forget-me-not (Myosotis arvensis) is the official flower of Wells! Green stems and lettering with blue and yellow water based inks.
“Wellsian Fields” – two variations: a gold sun backdrop with a light-light-green to light-green blend on bright and dark shirt colours; gold with an indigo to violet blend on light shirts.
